Friday began with dark clouds scudding in from the southwest and progressed on to a pretty good, full-fledged snowfall by about 2pm in the afternoon. It snowed into the night, and when we woke up on Saturday it was absolutely glorious! Not a cloud in the crystal clear blue sky, and a crisp 25 degrees. Due to my atypical schedule this week, I enjoyed the rare opportunity to listen to Frank Deford’s regular Wednesday morning sports commentary on NPR during my morning drive to work. He of course was talking about the Super Bowl, but true to his high standards of journalism, he never even mentioned Tim Tebow once. Instead, he discussed the Super Bowl’s fixation on numbers, which by my estimation seems to be rivaled only by just about every single baseball game ever played. I will admit it: I am a martini kind of guy. Gin and a little dry vermouth, stirred, served straight up in a cocktail glass. If I am feeling crazy I will have a Gibson but only if there is some Hendricks lying around. Even worse, I am a snobby martini kind of guy. Several months ago Jason and Irene asked if I would perform their marriage ceremony while in Cancun, Mexico.
