proto|mondo is the website of Rusty Smith.
proto – first in time, earliest, original.
mondo – 1. [Japanese. f. mon (asking) + do (answering.] An instructional technique consisting of a rapid dialogue of questions and answers between a teacher and a student. 2. [sl.] of the largest size or magnitude.
Professionally I am an Associate Professor of Architecture at Auburn University, where I am also the Associate Chair of the Architecture Program, Associate Director of the Rural Studio, and the Coordinator of the First Year Program in Architecture. I have been fortunate to receive quite a bit of national recognition for my teaching.
Less professionally I am also an artist. I enjoy drawing quite a bit – and others seem to like them as well. On occasion I also make robots, none of which ever work.
