Your Snow is Our Gain
Today was get out of town day, and we woke up to a lot of lake effect snow coming off Lake Michigan. While it did make it for a kind of crumby travel day, it made for an excellent cross country skiing day. We packed our bags up, and then JT made us breakfast while I gathered up our skiing stuff and dusted it off – we had not used it in a couple of years. We had about an hour to ski before we had to get cleaned up and hit the road for the Flint airport, and we made the best of it. We skied down to the Leelanau trail and headed out toward Suttons Bay. We went out for about 30 minutes and then turned around and headed back to the house, cutting across the fields and coming back through Grandma T’s property – what a great view of the lake from the top of the hill! It was fun, but the 25 mile per hour winds were a little brutal at times when we hit open terrain. All in all I am very glad we got a ski in, even if it was a short one – I really miss being able to ski every day like we did in Chicago. The upside of living in Atlanta though is you can almost always run in shorts!
